A. UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS
BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES (GENERAL)
For applicants who wish to apply for any of our *undergraduate programmes:
1. For WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE
You are required to possess Six (6) subjects comprising three (3) Core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

2. GCE Advanced Level: Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-Science students) and an Arts subject (for Science students).
3. Diploma certificates from recognized universities assessed to be equivalent to HND with second class lower division may be considered for admission into level 100 or 200 in their area of specialization depending on the subjects passed. The applicants must note that Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) qualification cannot, in itself, be used for admission into Valley View University.
4. HND holders from recognized institutions with at least Second Class Lower Division may be considered for admission into level 200 or 300 in their area of specialization depending on the subjects passed from transcript. The applicant must have acquired a two-year post HND qualification working experience. Other Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND may be similarly considered.
5. Full Diploma Certificate in ABCE. Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE). ABCE candidates may be considered for admission at level 200 of a degree programme depending on academic transcript and years of working experience.
6. Diploma in Basic Education/3-year Post Secondary Teacher’s Cert ‘A’ holders are eligible to apply for degree programmes in Education.
7. Baccalaureate (from French-speaking countries), and other Foreign High School Diploma equivalent to WASSCE. Such certificates should be evaluated by the National Accreditation Board. Other International Students having equivalent qualifications may apply for admission. Foreign Certificates must receive authentication and equivalencies from the Ghana National Accreditation Board. Foreign students must have their high school certificates/diplomas translated into English if they are not written in English.
8. Applicants within the West African Examination Council zone, who do not offer Integrated Science, but may wish to apply for Science programmes are required to apply with four (4) Elective subjects (this should include the required grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Elective Mathematics) for the fourth to be replaced as substitute for Integrated Science.
9. Registered General Nursing or Midwifery/State Registered Nursing or Midwifery Certificate/Diploma holders may apply for BSc Nursing/BSc Midwifery.
10. Mature Students: The applicant must:
a. Be at least 25 years old;
b. Show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date;
c. Provide introductory letter from employer or show any other proof of employment;
d. Applicants must pass the University’s Mature Entrance Examination comprising English Language, Mathematics, and General Paper. In lieu of entrance examination, the applicant should show proof of credit passes in English and Mathematics in WASSCE, SSCE, GCE or any other nationally recognized standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside of WAEC’s aegis).
DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (GENERAL)
1. SSSCE Holders
a. Six (6) Passes (A –D) in all subjects, including English and Mathematics.
b. For areas of specialization (science programmes mostly), three (3) of the Passes must be in relevant subjects.
2. WASSCE Holders
a. Six (6) Passes; (A1 – D7) in core subjects including English Language and Mathematics; and must possess a minimum of three (3) passes in elective subjects of which should be credit Passes (C6) or better.
b. It must be noted, however, that certain courses may require credit passes (C6) or better in the core subjects, in other relevant courses, especially our science programmes.
*OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME OF OUR SCIENCE PROGRAMMES (BSC):
For BSc Computer Science/BSc Biomedical Engineering
· Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) and Elective Subjects – Grade D or better in three (3) elective subjects. The two electives should be science subjects. For Non-science students, elective mathematics is required.
· West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science) and Elective Subjects – Grade C6 or better in three (3) elective subjects. The two electives should be science subjects. For Non-science students, elective mathematics is required.
· Applicants within the West African Examination Council zone with Pure Science background, who do not offer Integrated Science, but may wish to apply for Computer Science are required to apply with four (4) Elective subjects (this should include the required grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Elective Mathematics) for the fourth to be replaced as substitute for Integrated Science.
· General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level: Passes in three (3) subjects including Mathematics and/or Science (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subject for Science students.
· HND holders in Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering from recognized institutions with at least Second Class Lower Division may be considered for admission into level 200 or 300 in their area of specialization depending on the subjects passed. The applicant must have acquired a two-year post HND qualification working experience.
· Diploma or other certificates from recognized institutions assessed to be equivalent to (1), (2) or (3) may be considered for admission.
For BSc Midwifery
· West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (Mathematics, Integrated Science, and English) and Elective Subjects – Grade C6 or better in three (3) elective subjects in Science or General Arts (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics), Home Economics and Agricultural Science.
· RGN/RM Applicants
Applicants with Diploma in Registered General Nursing (RGN) who have upgraded to BSc. Nursing will start from level 300.
Applicants who have Diploma in Registered Midwifery (RM) will start the BSc. Midwifery from level 300.
Applicants with Diploma in Registered General Nursing who want to pursue BSc. Midwifery will start from level 200.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (For RM/RGN)
Applicant must be a registered Nurse or Midwife from an accredited institution
Applicant must have a valid PIN issued by Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Applicant must have completed at least 2 years of nursing/or midwifery practice.
· Applicants within the West African Examination Council zone, with Pure Science background who do not offer Integrated Science, but may wish to apply for BSc Nursing are required to apply with four (4) Elective subjects (this should include the required grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Elective Mathematics) for the fourth to be replaced as substitute for Integrated Science.
· International Students having equivalent qualifications as stated in (1) or (2) may apply for admission. Foreign Certificates must receive authentication and equivalencies from the Ghana National Accreditation Board. Foreign students must have their high school certificates/diplomas translated into English if they are not written in English. Evidence of proficiency in English language for non-English speaking countries will be needed.
For BSc Nursing
· Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects, English, Mathematics and Integrated Science and Elective Subjects – Grade D or better in three (3) elective subjects. The electives could be any of the following: Science or General Arts (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and elective Mathematics), and Home Economics and Agricultural Science.
· West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (Mathematics, Integrated Science, and English) and Elective Subjects – Grade C6 or better in three (3) elective subjects in Science or General Arts (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics), Home Economics and Agricultural Science.
· Applicants within the West African Examination Council zone, with Pure Science background who do not offer Integrated Science, but may wish to apply for BSc Nursing are required to apply with four (4) Elective subjects (this should include the required grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Elective Mathematics) for the fourth to be replaced as substitute for Integrated Science.
· International Students having equivalent qualifications as stated in (1) or (2) may apply for admission. Foreign Certificates must receive authentication and equivalencies from the Ghana National Accreditation Board. · Diploma/Registered General Nurses/Midwives/Mental Health Nurses and applicants with SRN certificates would also be considered for a three (3) year BSN.
NOTE
The first year of the Nursing programme is considered primarily pre-clinical. Nursing students are admitted ONLY in August and since most courses are sequential they are usually offered once a year. It should be noted that these requirements satisfy both professional and academic entries.
For BSc Mathematics
· Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects (Mathematics, Integrated Science and English) and Elective Subjects –Grade D or better in three (3) elective subjects. The three electives should include elective Mathematics.
· West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE): Compulsory Subjects - Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (Mathematics, Integrated Science and English) and Elective Subjects – Grade C6 or better in three (3) elective subjects. The three elective subjects should include Elective Mathematics.
· Applicants within the West African Examination Council zone, with Pure Science background who do not offer Integrated Science, but may wish to apply for BSc Mathematics are required to apply with four (4) Elective subjects (this should include the required grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Elective Mathematics) for the fourth to be replaced as substitute for Integrated Science.
· General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level: Passes in two (2) subjects including Mathematics (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subject for Science students.
· HND holders in similar area of study from recognized institutions with at least Second Class Lower Division may be considered for admission into level 200 or 300 in their area of specialization depending on the subjects passed. The applicant must have acquired a two-year post HND qualification working experience.
· Diploma or other certificates in similar area of study from recognized institutions assessed to be equivalent to (1), (2) or (3) may be considered for admission.
· International Students having equivalent qualifications as stated in (1), (2) or (3) may apply for admission. Foreign Certificates must receive authentication and equivalencies from the Ghana National Accreditation Board. Foreign students must have their high school certificates/diplomas translated into English if they are not written in English.
Diploma – Biomedical Equipment Technology
Admission to the Diploma in Biomedical Equipment Technology at Valley View University is available to any student who meets the academic and character requirements of the University, and who expresses willingness to cooperate with its policies. Applicants must have one of the following academic requirements in order to be admitted:
a. GCE ‘O’ level and ‘A’ level Applicants
Five (5) GCE Ordinary Level passes including English Language, Mathematics and Physics plus a minimum of two GCE A level passes in relevant subjects- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
b. SSCE/WASSCE
Passes in three core subjects- English, Mathematics, Integrated Science plus three passes in the relevant subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Applied Electricity.
c. Mature Students
· Applicants who are aged 25 and above with 3 years relevant working experience and have five passes including English and Mathematics in SSSCE can apply.
· Applicants who are aged 25 and above with 3 years relevant working experience and have A1-E8 including English and Mathematics in WASSE can apply.
· Applicants who are aged 25 and above with 3 years relevant working experience and have five GCE Ordinary Level or School Certificate credits including English Language and Mathematics can apply.
· Applicants without formal academic qualifications may be considered for admission if they are above 25 years old and have demonstrated relevant work experience. Applicants will also be required to pass an entrance examination and/or an interview.

f. Radio, Television (TV) and Electronics Technician Part II
B. POST-GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES REQUIREMENTS
Prospective masters’ students who are interested in an intensive, field-based, immersion programme of study leading to the award of Master’s degrees must have one of the following academic requirements in order to be admitted:
1. EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
· M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction
· M.Ed. Educational Administration and Leadership
· MPhil Curriculum and Instruction
i. Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Arts degree with Education or its equivalent
ii. Bachelor’s degree with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education or its equivalent
iii. A Bachelor’s degree with no Education background would require to take prerequisite courses
iv. Third (3rd) Class Honours holders should have a minimum of three years teaching experience
2. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
· Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
· Post Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Ministry (PGDM)
i. An applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher or its equivalent from a recognized University
3. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMMES
· Master of Business Administration (Banking and Finance)
· Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management)
· Master of Business Administration (Human Resource Management)
i. An applicant must have a Bachelors degree with at least Second Class Lower Division or its equivalent from a recognized University with at least two years post-graduation relevant working experience.
In Collaboration with Andrews University, USA
· Master of Science in International Development
i. An applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher or its equivalent from a recognized University.
Recommendations for Post-Graduate Applicants:
Two recommendations are required from:
i. Professionals—such as advisors/religious leaders, major faculty members (lecturers who may have taught you)
ii. And employer(s)—excluding relatives.
