Oyibi, June 28, GNA - The SVANI Group limited, a logistics and transportation company, has donated a 65 seater bus at the cost of US 90,000 to the Valley View University (VVU) at Oyibi.
The company has also promised to donate a 160 kva generator at the cost of US60,000 to boost the university’s electricity demand.
Mr Thomas Swaniker, Executive Chairman of the SVANI Group, at a short ceremony to hand over the bus to the university, described education as one of the pillars of development in every country, which needed support from the private sector.
He said the SVANI Group in celebrating its 25th anniversary decided to support a number of educational institutions as a way of giving back to society.
He said for the past two years, the automobile company has spent over two million dollars, through donations to support selected institutions and orphanages, which were positively impacting the Ghanaian society.
Mr Swaniker said the VVU, which is the first private tertiary institution in the country, was making an impact in society, but also faced challenges, hence the donation of the bus to convey especially, trainee nurses to practical attachment outside the campus.
