The Payaza Fintech Connect Conference took place on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at the University of Ghana, Legon, Cedi Conference Hall, gathering students, industry experts, and enthusiasts from multiple institutions to explore developments in financial technology. This event served as an engaging platform for sharing knowledge, networking, and showcasing innovative fintech solutions.
Valley View University participated actively in the inter-school competition organised by Payaza Ghana Ltd., where students demonstrated their understanding of fintech concepts through presentations and problem-solving sessions. Competing against other prestigious institutions, Valley View University’s team impressed the judges with their thought-provoking solutions to a case project dubbed “the booming banana business: a fintech challenge.” A farmer named Awa was challenged with:
1. Limited access to financial services – banks loan terms were too high.
2. Crippling farm growth and chances of expanding her farm.
3. Inadequate human capital support.
The team designed an app tagged BANANAPAY to guide stakeholders of banana plantation to solicit for funds and other logistics to elevate the Farm from local to global status. The support from faculty members and fellow students was instrumental in this success. Valley View University team came strong showing commitment to academic excellence and its growing presence in the fintech field. This experience not only highlighted the talent within Valley View University but also reinforced the importance of collaborative learning and innovation in shaping the future of finance.
